A Mother's Prayer
O holy Mary, you remember devoutly how as a young mother you pressed the divine Jesus tenderly to your pure breast. You were not then denied that precious privilege of motherhood to nourish the life you had brought into the world. O Mother of mothers, I pray to obtain for me this privilege for the child to whom I shall soon give birth. May I, too, know this fullness of the office which God has so beautifully ordained I shall be closely drawn to y child with the tenderest mother-love, that by this bond of affection I shall likewise be better able to nourish the soul of my little one with the holy truths of faith, so that my child may equally with a strong body and an upright mind, serve its Creator in fidelity and love. Amen.
