God Is Always On The Side Of Those Who Suffer.
- A Jewish Rabbi
Everyday there is some fighting going on somewhere in the world – in Bosnia, in the Middle East, in Africa, in Asia. Often warring ethnic groups or nationalities pray to the one and the same God. There are casualties on all sides. On whose side then is God? Whose prayer does he hear and answer?
Lord, the best answer I have heard so far is that you are on the side of those who suffer. You are always on the side of the victims of injustice and hatred. Because you are a God of justice and love. In the end, Lord, all are victims – the oppressor and the oppressed, the conqueror and the vanquished. All need your healing, your mercy, your compassion. As I journey today, Lord, let me not oppress anyone by my demands on them. Let me be sensitive to suffering, especially the people who hurt inside. Let me be an instrument of peace to those I meet today.
