There Is None Too Poor As To Have Nothing To Give, And None Too Rich As To Be Unable To Receive.

The poor as well as the rich are first and foremost people – human beings with common basic needs. Their poverty or wealth are purely accidental conditions. Some are born the way they are. Others become poor or rich only after birth. Rich or poor, all have to give and take from each other. Often the rich are more needy of love than the materially poor. Already few in number in a vastly poor country, the rich become poorer as they experience more and more isolation and insecurity.
Lord, help me to realize that give-and–take is a basic dynamics of living. There is material poverty because some are unjust or the situation is unjust. Grant me the grace to be just in my personal life, lighting my individual candle instead of cursing the universal darkness.
